Freshly prepared meals and a balanced, nutritional diet are important for happy growing children. We have our own trained, experienced chef who provides a tasty and nutritious menu for both our nurseries.
Fresh, tasty, balanced
The meals and snacks we provide throughout the day at our nurseries use fresh ingredients, locally sourced wherever possible. They’re nutritionally balanced, tasty, and provide lots of variety, which encourages the children to try new foods while supporting their health and well-being. We also cater for all allergies and intolerances, and offer vegetarian and Halal meat options.
Working with experts to get it right
We want to make sure that our freshly-prepared meals are just right for all our children so, as well as consulting regularly with our parents about our menus, we also liaise with two specialist organisations: the Children’s Food Trust, which provides dietary advice about cooking for children; and Menu Matters, experts in menu planning and recipe nutrition analysis. The Children’s Food Trust – previously known as the School Food Trust – issues guidelines for nursery food. These define how often, how much, and which types of, food and drink should be provided to nursery children, as well as those foods to limit or avoid. For example:
The menu structure. e.g. Getting the correct balance and variety of meals and snacks within the menu, so that the required levels of particular food groups are met.
The recipes. e.g. Providing the correct proportions of protein, vegetables & starch.
Nutrient levels. Specifying the 12 different nutrients which children should get from their nursery food.
